Quirky Towns
Tasmania abounds in quirky little towns
and the Backroad Cottages are ideally suited for day trips.
Here are just a few suggestions:
To the east, there's Sheffield with its murals.
Get in touch with your inner child at Tasmazia,
or visit Latrobe with the amazing Reliquaire and Railton with its topairies.
In Devonport there's the Antique Emporium, Providore Place and Distinctive Timbers,
and Port Sorrel.
To the west there's Ulverstone with the aptly named I'm in Heaven coffee and gift shop, Penguin with its large undercover market, Burnie with its Makers Workshop.
Or you could go beyond Burnie to Wynyard,
where the Tulip Farm is a must see in October, and on to the Nut at Stanley.
If you go south over the mountain pass,
you can do a scenic drive via Mole Creek with its caves
and on to Deloraine with its galleries and river walk,
then back home along the highway.
And don't forget the Bridge Hotel at Forth (just 20 mins from Backroad Cottages) for a good value, delicious meal!
