Natural Wonders

We are within an easy drive of Cradle Mountain, Mt Roland, and Dooley’s Track along the Wilmot River. Or you could kayak along the mighty Forth River, see the amazing Leven Canyon, get in touch with your inner mutt on the dog beach at Ulverstone, take in the beautiful gardens at Kaydale Lodge, and so much more.

Food and Wine

If you love your food and wine, (and who doesn’t?):

There are local wineries like La Villa, Wilmot Hills Distillery , Helleyers Distillery, and Ghost Rock Winery

Then there’s the food, visit The Forth Pub for a delicious country pub meal, treat yourself to Belgium chocolate at Anvers Chocolates, Latrobe, indulge in a High Tea at I’m in Heaven, Ulverstone, or enjoy an artisanal lunch at The Laneway cafe, in Devonport.

Quirky Towns

Tasmania abounds in quirky little towns. Backroad Cottages are ideally suited for day trips.

EAST: there’s Sheffield with its murals, get in touch with your inner child at Tasmazia, or visit Latrobe with the amazing Reliquaire and Railton with its topairies. There’s Devonport with its Antique Emporium and Distinctive Timbers, and further on there’s Port Sorell.

WEST: there’s Ulverstone with the aptly named I’m in Heaven coffee and gift shop, Penguin with its large undercover market, and Burnie where you can go to the Penguin Observation Centre. Or you could go beyond Burnie to Wynyard, where the Tulip Farm is a must see in October, and on to the Nut at Stanley.

SOUTH: over the mountain pass, you can do a scenic drive via Mole Creek with its caves then on to Deloraine with its galleries and river walk, then back home along the highway.
